The Theremin !
One of the very first electronic instrument, invented by the Russian physicist and cellist Leon Theremin in 1919.

Everybody knows this instrument that you can play without physical contact. The Theremin produces a tone that changes in pitch and dynamic level when the player moves his hands near its antenna and loop.
It’s often associated with 50’s sci-fi movies, furious aliens and creepy/spooky creatures and was also used by many artists, just to name a few :
Beach boys – Good Vibrations !
Portishead – Mysterons
Goldfrapp – Yes Sir
+ Radiohead, Led Zep, Massive Attack, Pink Floyd, Julien Dragoul and many more !

A pre-synthesizer electronic instrument, Ondes Martenot VST originally created by Maurice Martenot (prononced mar-ten-oh) in 1928, The French name translates literally as Martenot. Unlike the Ondes Martenot, whose goal was to make the best of the 'purity' of sounds produced by the tubes, the Ondioline was conceived with the idea of artificially recreating the sounds of acoustic instruments. A filter bank is used to make sounds. The filters can be engaged via multiple switches that allow all sorts of combinations. The ondes Martenot or ondes musicales (musical waves) is an early electronic musical instrument. It is played with a keyboard or by moving a ring along a wire, creating wavering, theremin-like sounds. A player of the ondes martenot is called an ondist. The ondes Martenot was invented in 1928 by the French inventor Maurice Martenot. Invented in 1928 by Maurice Martenot, the original unreliable tube-based design was refined and later models remained in production until 1988. The Poly-Ondes is a polyphonic synth using the Ondes Martenot oscillators and speaker modelling: create fabulous vintage pad sounds with full LFO and filter modulation, detune all 7 oscillators and play them back through the speakers for an incredibly characterful sound. There are 50 Poly-Ondes presets showing the FULL sound design possibilities. Ondes Martenot (Soniccouture) Does anyone know much about this plugin and if it's a good Kontakt Vst? I've been a bit intrigued by this rare instrument ever since I got the Bernard Herrman Toolkit as it was included as a patch. Other than a couple inspiring videos of the actual instrument.
